With Neglect Gains Dust and Decay

Seal my heart
inside, stamped
and ready to send
traveling miles and miles
across states and shores,
bubble wrapped
so it won’t break or bend.
And when it reaches you,
still beating strong
(stronger still with yours so near)
will you put our halves together
or leave me on a shelf
to stare at, admire, and keep
for yourself?

When It Hurts, Have Hope

When you're all alone
and the shadows seem to scream,
eager to eat at your doubts
and the blood from your heart
that gleams,
show them Pandora’s box
and watch them retreat

Let’s Defy This Distance

We tease
and taunt
with soft kisses,
tender touches,
and whispers of
‘I miss,’ 'I love you,’
when seeing one another
isn’t soon

It’s Taking The Life From Me

I can feel it;
my heart breaking.
The shards
are slicing
my lungs;
I can neither love
nor breathe.

These Bitter, Broken Beats

A hollow heart
can still scream

A One Day Legendary Love

The pieces crunch
under my feet
as I try silently
to retreat.
I always try
to run away
from old and new pains
(they’re both the same),
but maybe, one day
I can take these shards,
shattered, into my palms
and scatter them
to the stars.
Rearranged as constellations,
they’re a reminder
that a splintered heart
still holds the potential
for a telling story;
one that’s legendary.
